Affiliate Disclosure

Some links on LandlordTested are affiliate or referral links. If you click one and sign up for a product or request a quote, the company may pay us a fee, at no extra cost to you. Those fees never decide a ranking, a score or what we cover.

  4. Why we tell you this

LandlordTested is free to read. To pay for research and testing, we use affiliate and referral links. Companies we review may pay us a fee when a reader clicks one of those links and signs up, buys a plan or starts a trial. We don’t claim a partnership with any particular company on this page, and the list of programs we’re part of can change.

Every affiliate link on the site goes through a /go/ address on our domain, and those links are marked sponsored (rel=“sponsored”) so search engines and readers can tell them apart from ordinary links. You’ll mostly see them on the buttons that take you to a product’s sign-up page or a quote form.

Insurance referrals

Some insurance links are referral links. If you request a landlord insurance quote through one, the insurer or its partner may pay us a fee for that quote request. We’re paid per quote request, never per policy sold. We don’t sell insurance, and we never present a premium on this site as an offer.

What fees never change

  • Rankings. The order on every page comes from our scorecard: cost at 1, 5 and 20 units (30%), core features (25%), ease of setup and daily use (20%), tenant-side fees (15%), and support and reliability (10%).
  • Scores and verdicts. A company can’t buy a better score, a softer verdict or the removal of a weakness.
  • Coverage. We review tools whether or not they pay us.
  • Prices we print. Prices and fees come from each vendor’s own pricing page, with the date we checked them.

Why we tell you this

The US Federal Trade Commission expects sites that earn money from recommendations to say so clearly. More to the point, you should know how a site gets paid before you trust its advice. If a page has affiliate links, it says so on the page.

Questions landlords ask

The questions we get most, each answered in a paragraph.

Do I pay more if I use your affiliate link?

No. The price you pay is the same whether you use our link or go to the company's site directly. If a company offers a discount through our link, we say so on the page. Otherwise, any fee comes out of the company's marketing budget, not your pocket.

Does a company pay to be ranked higher?

No. Rankings come from our scorecard, which weighs cost at 1, 5 and 20 units, core features, ease of use, tenant-side fees and support. A company can't pay to change its score or its position, and a tool that pays us nothing can rank first.

How do I know which links are affiliate links?

Affiliate links on this site go through a /go/ address, such as landlordtested.com/go/ followed by the company's name, and are marked as sponsored in the page code. Buttons that send you to sign up for a product or request an insurance quote are the most common ones.
